About the Department

The department of  Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 1952 by the Philanthropist Dr. R.M Algappa Chettiar and presently the department is  offering         

1.B.E.- Electrical and Electronics Engineering 

2. M.E- Power Electronics and Drives.

 The department has excellent lab facilities which ranges from exquisite collection of  legacy mercury arc rectifiers, imported machines which is serving for  more than seven decades, to the state of the art lab of Next Gen Lab(IoT ,AI and Robotics Lab),Smart Grid Lab, Advanced Drives Lab, Virtual Instrumentation Lab, 3D Printing Machine, Industrial Grade Softwares, High capacity computing, GPU based nano processors,etc.,

 Our students are presented with an enriched curriculum . Apart from imparting core evolving technical skills, electives that focuses on ‘Learn by doing’ like Internet of Things, Virtual instrumentation, Smart Grid etc., are also being offered for making industrial ready students

 The department is a recognized Research Centre of Anna University from the year 2001. Faculty members and scholars are actively involved in research activities and have many publications and patents to their credits

 Our students are actively involved in vibrant extra curricular activities like leading students clubs, organising symposiums, conferences and participating in Smart India Hackathon, Innovation Contest, other co-curricular activities. Our students are getting placed in leading MNC and some of them are noted entrepreneurs. Many of our Alumni have good achievements in Industry, academics, and Professions. For the past six decades, the department has contributed to the society by producing numerous outstanding engineers to the country and will continue forever.

Program Educational Objectives

1. To impart a stout foundation in Mathematics, Science and Electrical Engineering fundamentals as well as comprehend, scrutinize, design, innovate and develop products for real life applications and to meet trending industrial needs.

2. To inculcate ethical attitude, effective communication skills, leadership and management qualities, self-motivation with team spirit for making the most out of collaboration and showing solicitude towards society.

3. To provide a holistic academic environment to foster excellence, entrepreneurship and multidisciplinary approach to develop an attitude for research and lifelong learning
